GCS Development Day

Ladies/Gents,

A reminder of the development day on Sunday 28th February at COBRA. Any players aged U12 to U14 are welcomed.

Here is the schedule for the development day:
U12s (10-12)
10:00 - 10:10 Introductions
10:10 - 10:20 Measure height & weight
10:20 - 10:40 Warm up & basic movement mechanics
10:40 - 11:00 Go through basic strength progressions. Followed by overhead squat pic (mobility screen)
11:00 - 12:00 Performance testing. Speed (10m dash) & power (vertical jump)

U14’s start 2pm

U14 Scrum Session

The U14 pack will have an extra technical session at Newtown RFC on Sunday 21st @10:30.
It will take the form of an indoor DVD session then out on the machine for the practicable part.
Make the effort to make the difference!

TRAINING CANCELLED

GCS U12 & U13 training cancelled Saturday 20th Febuary, due to adverse weather.

February 17th: GCS 0 SDR 14

The U14's succumb to their first defeat of the season with a spirited performance against the two year undefeated side from the Ospreys region.

Swansea District Rugby run out eventual 14-0 winners, and showed the level that all the boys need to be for our North wales sides to compete on a regular basis with our southern counterparts.

A special mention must go to the heroic defensive organisation that GCS showed to ensure both sides knew they had been in a hard competitive game.

Well done to the boys and Newtown for hosting the day.

Inter Provincial rugby hits Newtown on Wednesday Feb 17th.

The winners from the first round of the Gogledd provincial matches take on Swansea at Newtown Rugby Club.
The schedule see a representative team from each province with staggered kick off times.
Gogledd West U12's @ 4:30pm
Gogledd East U13's @ 5:45pm
Gogledd South U14's @ 7:00pm

U12's Change of venue

Due to unavailability of a pitch at Newtown, the U12's will now be training at Llanidloes on Saturday 30th January @ 10am.

Coach Education Night 18th January (TONIGHT)

Coach Education - Scrum & LineoutAll coaches are invited to attend a coach education evening at Welshpool RFC on Monday January 18th, 7:00pm - 9:00pm.The evening will be focussing on technical aspects of the scrum and lineout, with ideas on how coaches can incorporate these within their coaching sessions. Whilst the skills are applicable to youth and senior teams the session is aimed at players between the ages of 12 & 16.This evening is the precursor to a follow on session in March looking at the tactical choices available from scrum and Lineout.

Busy 2nd Half for U14's

Following all the postponed training and games the Under 14's have a busy time ahead of them.

The next round of provincial matches includes this months clash with the West in Bro, followed by games against Swansea, Heart of Wales, Ceredigion and the rearranged match against the East. (see U14 Fixtures)

Lets extend our unbeaten run and remember the teams success is your commitment.
